First greeted by an unsettling air raid siren, you are soon met with disgustingly distorted 808’s in Chris Tophr’s self produced track “DOPE”. The Boston rapper known for his dark, hard hitting sound is joined by Broke Chic as the two exclaim “I don’t need love, I need dope”.
Both artists are members of the exciting collective HELL AGE, which has been making some serious noise in the basements and hole-in-the-wall music venues around Boston. I had the pleasure to see the two perform this track live earlier this month, and could not help but be amazed by the raw energy of “DOPE” as I was swarmed by the moshpit.
