THY KYNG

Musical powerhouse  THY KYNG has been shocking audiences by blending beauty and brutality to contribute to the ever evolving trap metal scene. While originally from Philadelphia, he now claims Atlanta, and has been tending to his craft for the past two years.

As a kid, hip hop was always a big part of his life, though he credits his introduction to a certain artist as the moment he found his calling as a creator. “When I was about 10, my stepdad showed be Tupac. That’s when I knew I wanted to be an artist.” He goes on to credit several artists that have been instrumental in creating his own sound, “Some of my influences are Chief Keef, Lil Wayne, DMX, Gucci Mane, Young Thug, Travi$ Scott, Bones, Slipknot, Papa Roach, and Evanescence.”

KYNG has established himself as rarity; creating sounds that one finds trouble drawing a comparison to. For such a short time in the game, he has gained traction from his social media following; gaining 20K followers in 2017 alone. Further, songs such as “SLAUGHTER PIT”(Prod. by phosphate), “YOU DIE, WE BALL” (Prod. by Toxic), and “TERROR SQUADQU. E.T. and AK3K ” (Prod. by 6ix sounds) have each surpassed 100,000 plays. One thing each of these tracks have in common is the apparent versatility in THY KYNG.

One undeniable factor to his success has been his ability to command power, and using it when necessary. Very early in his career, KYNG initiated a collective called Violently Peaceful with a mission of balance in mind, “I wanted to create a therapeutic movement for my supporters and I. Violently Peaceful is very similar to the philosophy of Yin and Yang. I’ve learned from experience you cannot be too violent, because you’ll implode; be too nice and people will take advantage of you. VP is about maintaining the two.

Violently Peaceful members Runaway and E.T. described KYNG as a passionate leader, who never makes them feel as less than equals. “One thing that KYNG always made sure we knew was that we’re all on the same level, and we’re a collective of artists who are all equal. He’s good about finding artists who aren’t very established and seeing potential in them; almost comparable to A$AP Yams in a way” said E.T. He went on to credit his skills of personality as an important component of his skill-set. “He’s very good at communicating with people, and he’s always networking. He’s really just a people person, and he knows who to talk to.” In its near 2 years of existence, KYNG has found artists from all different walks of life, and no two sounds that sound alike. Artists such as BROC $TEEZY, 2K, Lil $layer, fl.vco, and many more proudly represent the Violently Peaceful family; all at the hand of THY KYNG himself.

From securing a performance slot at SXSW 2018, as well as plenty of new music on the way, THY KYNG will continue to bring new styles to life and mark off his list one achievement at a time.
