Canada’s very own lux gave us the pleasure to debut the first ever Underground Underdogs Exclusive Track, “fool me once.” Produced by clipped, the track masterfully spins a Crystal Castles sample as lux pleadingly asks an unnamed lover “why did you walk away from my side, just so you could go live a lie?”
lux told us the process behind making the track. “I played the beat on repeat for a bit, and just let the emotion and mood guide me. The way clipped used that sample had me sad as shit, so I just put my microphone on & the first thing I sang was “I feel the pain in your chest, I can hear it in your breath.” He goes on to explain “that last part “I can see your soul tonight” and onward, that’s for my last ex. She had basically given up on any ambitions or dreams once we graduated and she didn’t want to deal with my anxiety or depression anymore.” The haunting production and painful emotion in lux’s voice tie this short track together beautifully.
