North Carolina’s own King Christian has been in the digipunk SoundCloud scene longer than any of us can remember, along with the post-MySpace musical group REFE. REFE and King Christian first began publicly releasing music on SoundCloud four years ago, KC’s first song being a song produced by him for Lil B The Based God.
Although post-emo doesn’t have a prominent past on SoundCloud, this has never stopped REFE from being an immensely influential group on the music streaming service. Collaborating with artists such as Yung Bruh to Horse Head, the group continues to push the boundaries of post-emo pop music to this day.
Favored for blending poppy, EDM beats with an emo, pop punk voice, King Christian recently released “I Don’t Mind Staying Inside” alongside an announcement that he is dropping an EP this Valentine’s Day. The song carries a twinkling beat produced by DeliverTheCrush as King Christian emotionally shouts to someone he has feelings for, confessing he is insecure about his emotions. The song is easily analogous to most of his other tracks, making “I Don’t Mind Staying Inside” just that much more enjoyable. Stream it above, and dig into King Christian’s discography down below.
