BLVC SVND X GIZMO

Unofficial duos and groups have been a factor in the industry forever. Oftentimes two artists’ styles seem to blend effortlessly; complimenting each other’s creation through their themes, sound, and overall beliefs. Gizmo and Blvc Svnd are a perfect example of this at play.  The release of their collaborative EP, BLVC SVND X GIZMO features 6 tracks that showcase their ability as a duo. With each respectively creating some of the heaviest tracks in underground rap, they’ve married their styles for a distorted metal/hip hop sound that has undoubtedly influenced up and comers. The two have proved to be a powerhouse duo, with their similar minds as an aid, Gizmo explains. “We probably work so well together because we get along together and we’re really good friends. We both share the same opinions, viewpoints, and anger towards certain things.” By wrangling all of these emotions to create a concise, unified project, these two have proved that their work together will be to remember.

While half of the tracks are produced by Blvc Svnd himself, other credits include lunar vision and Mutant Joe, filling the project with unique, complementary beats to unify the sound as a whole. Prior to the release, tracks like “I PUT MY DICK IN YOUR MENTAL (Prod. LUNARVISION)” and “ALLERGIES (Prod. LUNARVISION)” gave audiences a hint of what was in store for their first collaborative project, however the full EP defied expectations. The opening song, “Uncle Ruckus (Prod. Blvc Svnd)” provides a fun hoppy beat, reminiscent of the old school with a modern twist and a playful flow. The other songs, “CUT THROAT [SPIDER PERSON] (Prod. Blvc Svnd)”, “DEATH WISH (Prod. Mutant Joe)”, and “BANG YA FUCKIN HEAD (Prod. Blvc Svnd)” equally match the mood of the EP, giving listeners hard tracks to mosh and have fun to.

“There wasn’t really a direct concept or image we went for,” says Gizmo of the EP, “We just wanted to do what we’re good at and make some hard ass music.” Although there’s no grand scheme within this project, the tracks are still unified through their energy: “They connect through the vibe/feel of the tape, but topic wise or in any other way it’s not correlated. Just a taste of what Blvc Svnd and Gizmo can do together. This is just an EP keep in mind, just wait for the mixtape or album.” With big projects of their own underway, (Gizmo’s Venom and Blvc Svnd’s Lil Grain Season), it isn’t certain how much longer we have to wait for the next collaboration, but Gizmo assured, “Throughout this whole process no doubt we will be cooking something up together for the supporters.” Give Blvc Svnd X Gizmo a listen below!
