After the success of their breakout track “Shinners 13,” New York hardcore artists Zillakami and Sosmula are back and more destructive than ever on their new track “33rd Blakk Glass.” Riding off of the explosion of popularity that “Shinners 13” achieved on Worldstar, the potent duo are back and more grimy than ever before.
Staying true to their style, the track begins with hardcore synths and the laugh of a crazed madman. As the video continues, they only emphasize their style even more. Just like fans have come to expect, things are lit on fire – in this case BMX bikes. Zillakami and Sosmula show off their weapon arsenal reminiscent of a military force, and incredibly potent drugs are used. Some of the most shocking and intriguing shots of the video include a scene where the actual song is stopped to show the use of whippits, and a scene inside a bedroom where a mattress is lifted, exposing a rocket launcher underneath.
Apart from the harsh, explosive video, the music itself is consistent with the duo’s style, improving upon their already successful formula. Sosmula’s verse is small, yet powerful. His energy stays high throughout and provides the perfect break between the hook and Zillakami more melodic approach to the track. One of the biggest issues that hardcore artists face is the criticism of their inability to create catchy hooks, instead opting to simply “yell”. Zillakami proves all of those allegations wrong with this track as his guttural delivery raps “Godzilla with the microwave, causing heat waves. Ziggler with the suplex slam, make the ground shake,” in a flow that will live on in listeners heads way after the song is finished.
Lastly, it is vital to mention Thraxx, the producer of the track. His beat fits perfectly will the duos sound and it is hard to imagine any other rapper on production so hardcore. The fast paced drums alongside the heavily distorted synths constantly keep the track interesting and unpredictable. Overall the track remains true to Zillakami’s and Sosmula’s style without becoming repetitive. The catchy hook and violent verses also add to the overall song, not to mention the great visuals. As shown by the success of “Shinners 13,” if the two rappers can continue to create great music then success is right around the corner. Check out the video down below.
