Oliver Francis – Infinity Boy

Oliver Francis is one of the most unique artists to materialize from the momentum of the internet. After releasing project after project, Things Aren’t That Simple, burnout and Chlorine, to name a few from his vast collection, Francis has rapidly evolved and has continued to garner a cult following. However, Oliver Francis is long passed his beloved “slowking freestyle” days. Francis has surpassed all of his surrounding peers from the underground scene and he does so throughout his newest EP, Infinity Boy.

Carl Edwards (feat. Big Baby Scumbag)”, is the first bop on the extended play. Atmospheric chords are accompanied by heavy 808s while Francis effortlessly flows on top. Big Baby Scumbag is also a welcomed addition, and one of the very limited collaborations Francis has done. While the video to the song was released just a month after Francis’ headlining tour which included Scumbag, hopefully there is more in store for the complimentary duo in the near future.

While the sample of “Chernobyl” was found in a unique way, the ambient pad lead track showcases Francis’ pristine braggadocios lyricism.

Wanna talk about beats? Get your racks up // You don’t wanna see when we act up, pull up, M3, better back up

“Ozzy”, is the uptempo classic Francis that debuts exclusively on the EP. With amazing punchlines and shining chords, “Ozzy” could possibly be the fan favorite. A smooth 808 kicks underneath snappy hi-hats, all while Francis delivers in your face lines such as:

She look like Beatrix Kiddo // Im with some Harajuku girls // Gwen Stefani my bae // They can’t fuck with the gang // We sound like Crazy 88 // I pull up in Hiroshima // I had to cop me some BAPE

SpaceX” is a dark, synth lead song about Francis’ current lifestyle. Punchlines and an exceedingly hyped (but not forced) flow is the main focus of the track, with Francis self explaining his own status and where he’s at in life.

“Infinity Boy” is perhaps the premiere, defined ‘Oliver Francis song.’ Francis remains confident throughout the entire structure, while his production also keeps a steady wave of conviction  by way of dark piano keys and a constant line of subbass. Francis demands respect, and everything from his rhyme structure to production requires the identical reverence on the track and the rest of the project rapping:

Fuck whoever up next homie we first

Oliver Francis is only in the beginning stages of flourishing into the premiere, chart topping artist he deserves to be. Followers can expect a new project from Francis sooner than later, but for now should be satisfied with this impeccable collection. The quality and strength within Infinity Boy ultimately defines Francis and his overall determination as an artist. Francis is not trying to be just another rapper, but striving to be the best.
