Kenny Hoopla – SICKNESS//(Prod. Taxpurposes)

“my life i didn’t ask for it
i don’t know how to handle it”

Well said Kenny, well said.

Teaming up with Taxpurposes on their track “SICKNESS//,” Kenny Hoopla expresses a feeling of existential dread and self loathing that our nihilist-prone generation can relate to all too well.

Originally from Ohio, Hoopla currently resides in Madison, Wisconsin where he would see Taxpurposes at local shows for years prior to making music together. Finally connecting in early 2016, the Wisconsinites “instantly realized we had tons in common in terms of musical interest,” according to Taxpurposes. Kenny said the two worked on the song “CAVE//,” and from then on they have “been family ever since.”

For “SICKNESS//” the collaborators in fact reworked the track multiple times over the past couple of months. Opening with a distorted guitar chords, Taxpurposes’ panning hi-hats come in as Hoopla mumbles “I hate everyone I know.” The percussion comes in full force as Hoopla describes the downfall of a relationship that occured when his self esteem was already at rock bottom. Portraying beautiful lyricism and a feeling of dread that is all too relatable, “SICKNESS//” is a must listen track by two of Wisconsin’s most talented artists. Take a listen to the beautiful track below.
