Deverano has caught the attention of many in the underground who are looking for something different. This New York native has been releasing content for several years now, and one of the most appealing aspects of his SoundCloud page is the variety. Rather than lock himself into a single genre, Deverano has chosen to dabble with several different types of sounds including those that reflect his Ecuadorian and Salvadorian heritage. Sometimes creating his own genre entirely, he is able to keep his followers and peers guessing as his collaborations are just as unpredictable as his style shifts.
Like many other artists, Deverano had music before his first visible track “November” released about 2 years ago, but after speaking with him confirmed he simply didn’t want content that didn’t match his current production standards. Taking a look at the song “November”, the soothing melody with the stellar production from Izzard and Alicks explains why this standard had to be established. Everything he has released since has been just as well done if not better.
Deverano has collaborated with several different producers and artists, including someone you can already find on UU, Rahmaan. The two have worked together frequently and they compliment each others sound beautifully. Rahmaan with his soulful voice and Bengali influences mixed with Deverano’s vocal flexibility and Latin roots allow the two to create music completely unique to the underground. The novelty of the blended influences in a classic R&B setting and the sheer musical talent evident in both artists make their songs some of my honest favorites.
Directly asking Deverano about what he thinks sets his music apart from the music of his peers on SoundCloud, he responds:
“I like to constantly be challenged. I’m not afraid to make an attempt and potentially fail at it. I like to get extremely experimental with my music. Anything I see/hear/pick up, I immediately adapt to. I would then either apply it to my sound, or utilize in a collab under a totally different genre. Also, I get very bored staying within one genre of music for too long. I like to switch it up and apply myself, just to keep things interesting. Otherwise, I feel like I’m being restricted. My most recent musical approach is a twist of old school latin and contemporary r&b, with edm and trap influences. I call it S&B (Salsa & Blues).”
Whether its his song “Wild Card (feat. Raw.Deen)” where he showcases a solid rap flow, his song “Mírame” sung completely in Spanish with unexpected instrumentals, or anything in between, Deverano has an addictive sound. Once you hear some you’ll want to explore all his crossovers.
While he prefers to keep his upcoming content a surprise for his listeners, Deverano was able to hint we may be getting ‘at least one album coming out by the end of this year that portrays what [he’s] embraced among [his] latin roots.’ In the mean time, keep an eye out for new collaborations with producers around the world, as he’s planning on continuing to release songs in the coming months.
