When asked about what makes his music unique, VICTOR! responded,
“My music stands out because it’s raw emotion from a teenage boy’s bedroom”,
And that is exactly what it is. Unlike the typical 17 year old in today’s rap world, VICTOR does not make trap music filled with ignorant lyrics and booming 808’s; as a matter of fact, he does not make rap music at all. Instead, VICTOR creates incredibly somber, soothing ballads that take from R&B, yet exist in their own lane entirely. Despite his young age, VICTOR has somehow managed to create his own sound, led primarily by his tremendously powerful vocals. On the aptly titled “Tinder Song”, VICTOR begins the song promptly with the lyric: “Sometimes I find myself thinking of you,” diving straight into the song without hesitation. The track continues for another two minutes, and VICTOR’s soothing, mindful vocals control the atmosphere, utilizing his voice to help the track progress. The verses seamlessly transition into the chorus, where his own backup vocals are brought out to elevate the relationship based lyrics even further.

Throughout his discography, VICTOR covers the same subject matter, being careful to always approach relationships and love with a fresh and interesting prospective. Despite the slow pace of the tracks, they are not meant to be sad, rather to think about the positives of past relationships and to remain optimistic for future experiences. As VICTOR says himself,
“I make music for kids with broken computers and broken families”.
At only 17, VICTOR displays a level of maturity that many of his contemporaries still lack. Listeners will not find lyrics of meaningless relationships, or braggadocios lyrics. They will find intimate music by a person that has music in his blood. Being born to immigrant parents from Mexico who also made music, VICTOR has always known about both his skills and his passion for it, and finally he is showcasing it in grand fashion for the world to see. On “Attention”, VICTOR pitches his vocals both up and down, in an incredibly professional sounding way, despite not having access to a full blown studio.

With such little resources, VICTOR has already shown his ability to create dense, challenging music, and has proven why he is such an underdog. VICTOR plans to release his upcoming EP Glitter98 digitally over the summer, and will be performing at the Underground Underdogs show tomorrow in Chicago.
