Not all sounds are made for music. Not all music has intriguing sound. In the world of experimental instrumentals, traditional “rules” regarding beat composition, key changes, and song structure are rarely, if at all, followed. Provocateur of insanity Milan brings us more mind-bending impossibility in his newest track, “Nature Drip.”
Initially, we hear millions of voices infecting a hollow, space-age background. The climb starts quickly in paranoid suspense. Already we can tell Milan cannot be defined as any terrestrial genre (his songs with “L*o*J” and “Snuffy” are out of this world too).
The bass drops immediately after a robotic infant tells us our fate. The melody relies on what can only be described as acoustic Slinkies. Propelled by ridiculously heavy bass pulses, we coil through tunnels warped by lasers. The bridge sounds like the inside of a spaceship. There’s a lot going on in these bars but it all flows together so well that the insanity makes sense.
Mediocre industrial trap artists are sifted out once their formulas become predictable. Every artists tries to be more different than the next, so how does one stay truly unique amongst a sea of copycats? We might never know the answer but Milan is figuring it out.
“Nature Drip” has only been out for a couple of days and already the response has been rattled. It doesn’t seem like Milan plans on slowing the grind anytime soon. Follow him on Instagram and Twitter to stay tuned for new rule-shattering music.
