Savage Gasp Holds the Key to Success

Savage Gasp is quickly becoming a recognizable name. Building up his library over the past year, he has been consistently releasing catchy high quality content. Working with close personal friends Shinigami, Blatz, and Keshore has undoubtedly expedited his success, however the real reason he’s becoming popular is most likely his incredible work ethic and meticulous attention to detail.

Currently jumping between NYC and Boston, this artist is known to avoid staying in any one place too long. Even though he moved around often as a child, Gasp considers Kentucky to be his home state. When asking about his childhood, you might be interested to find out that growing up, he listened to pretty much every type of music besides rap. Before discovering his passion for the genre in middle school, Savage enjoyed listening to Green Day, Bullet for my Valentine, and Fall Out Boy. As an admittedly nostalgic person, the incorporation of themes and ideas from these groups is still evident today though he cites artists like Tyler the Creator, Xavier Wulf, and Mac Demarco as his recent inspirations.<

Gaspare has high standards for his SoundCloud feed. With minimal features and a curated 13 total tracks, I wasn’t surprised to hear his opinion on working with other artists:

“As far as collaborations go, I’m not a huge fan of them. If you’re on my page I picked you specifically to be there on that specific song for a specific reason. I never collaborate with people just for the sake of collaborating on something. The way I look at it is: if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself. Everything I do is super meticulously crafted, and written and recorded and fine tuned over and over again until I feel its perfect. I don’t want anyone to mess that up [laughs].”

The first piece of content released “lil shoota” was not technically his first song, though it was his first studio recorded track. While he had played around with recording the song at home, he realized that his content was too good to be released in that state even before any public validation. Realizing his potential in that moment was crucial in establishing his current standards looking back, adding a feature from Lil Wintr and turning to professional recording allows “lil shoota” to remain his second most played hit to date.

Savage Gasp spends weeks to months writing songs, picking beats, and creating content straight from his own thoughts and experiences. He takes pride in his decision to portray who he is and how he feels honestly in his music.

“I base everything purely off emotions and feelings and try my best to turn them into a song. I don’t want to be anyone or anything else, not a rapper or superstar or anything crazy, I just want to be Gaspare.”

Looking into the near future, we can expect to see tracks with some of his friends we’re already familiar with seeing on his page as well as artists like meltycanon, Elijah who, and Jvles. On top of several completed singles he’s waiting on the right time to drop, he’s also actively writing and recording new content. Also be sure to watch his feed in the coming months, as his EP is almost ready to be released and based off everything we’ve heard from him so far, is surely going to be impressive.
