Behind deadbeatteen’s Tribute Track “distant figures”

Among the plethora of emo artists throughout SoundCloud and above, deadbeatteen is continuously proving wrong anyone who doubts the poignant talent hidden in the coves of the underground. The year has been relatively quiet for the eighteen-year-old Tallahassee native, as he has sparsely sprinkled singles occasionally through the last few months. However, do not mistake his shadowed crafting for slowing down. Single “distant figures” can blow even some of the most powerful artists from the music industry away to an imperative demise.

Written, engineered and produced solely by himself, “distant figures” is only a glimpse of what deadbeatteens music holds. Sincerity wrecks deadbeatteens voice as he soothes over an ambient guitar pluck through the track, creating a solemn and eerie feeling of gloom.

I’ve gone too far again // Anxiety is not stable // I swear I’ve lost my best friend // Paraphernalia crosses the table //

“I originally wrote this song for a friend who passed a few days prior,” deadbeatteen explains. “To everyone reading, please wear your seat belt.”

A smooth blend of backing harmonies circling around the center pieced guitar is one of many glimmers within the layers of the songs production. The track will give any listener a spine chilling feeling of harrow and grief, something deadbeatteen has always done convincingly.

“I think sincerity in music is a fire idea,” he remarks. “Keeping it real with my supporters is how I stay interactive and engaging.”

When asked what emotions he was battling before the recording process began, deadbeatteen described a lack of self confidence in an everlasting love struck loop.

“I was a lost soul with demons surrounding [me] and didn’t want to help myself,” he says. “’Distant Figures’ was a song created in sense of hope.”

The song is reminiscent of the 2000’s emo acoustic wave and shares similarities to the early work of the legendary nothing, nowhere. Asked about his primary influence, it’s no surprise that deadbeatteen cites bands such as Pierce the Veil and Bring Me the Horizon. “All in all, 93FEETOFSMOKE and nothing, nowhere. did take up a lot of the inspiration within my lyrics.”

Deadbeatteen continually pushes passed boundaries left open by many artists today, boundaries that few have honestly tried to open. Asked for a few words to leave his dedicated fanbase, deadbeatteen humbly stated that his next project will debut later this month. “A message I’d give my supporters is I love you, and you for real help me.”
