Midnight Society Heavyweights Deliver DUCKSONICE!

Midnight Society’s Kamiyada+ and Yung Bambi have joined forces again to create Ducksonice!, a collaborative EP that shows the range of talent the pair each yield. Neither artists need the other to captivate an audience; commanding energy is a Midnight Society birthright. Kamiyada’s grimey fast raps compliment and combat Bambi’s dark timbre. Despite this, they push each other throughout the project in ways we haven’t seen yet. Simultaneously exploring new sounds and concepts, Bambi and Kami seem to give us a tour of subgenres that epitomize artistic musicality.

The tape explodes with “Find Out”. A high energy production from slidinmoon gives the MCs a playground of rattling drums and electronic melody. The track delivers complex bars from the top to bottom while a catchy chorus rounds it out, setting a feel good energy to rob you of moments later.

The twinkling transition to “FRIED!” zaps any lazy listener back into awareness. Kami sets the tone immediately, wasting no time on an introduction and setting up the perfect vocal contrast to Bambi’s deep rasp. RARE AKUMA melts the hearts of the hardest headbangers with a bass heavy production.

With the surprises far from over, the standout third track gives an emotional interlude to the prior tracks that command with dark energy. “Lockdown” compels rather with emotional conviction, showing the pair under a vulnerable air. The flowing alternative production from Mason Flynt provides a stark contrast to the rest of the project, and sets a poignant soundscape for the brooding vocals to melt with.

With no time to waste, hearts are hardened in transition to “FaceTime”. Arguably the hardest track to come from Ducksonice!, 8mc gives the duo a smooth, hoppy beat they navigate with ferocity. The pair fills the song with endless rhymes and punchlines, competing intensities with no conclusive victor.

Ducksonice! Comes to a close with the flowy, melodic “Take Flight”. The fifth and final sound provided by Bambi and Kami starkly contract from each of the latter. Softer vocals are delivered by the two, as they are joined by 18preme on a Lukrative production to create an intoxicating love song

In its entirety, Ducksonice! Is a testimony to Yung Bambi and Kamiyada’s artistry and work ethic, with the all but one track of the EP made in a single night.

“It’s started out as nothing more than a slightly aggressive adderall fueled project we recorded in two seperate Airbnbs while on tour, then as a month or two passed we had one track left to complete it and we decided the last track (“Lockdown”) should be something authentic & relatable.” -Kamiyada

When they experience success in one sound, they push themselves and delve into others.  The chemistry between these artists is effortless, seemingly motivating each other along the way. With the pair releasing projects and singles at a rapid rate, there is little doubt we will wait long for future collaborations.
