When he’s not producing albums for nothing, nowhere. he’s touring with him. Producer jay vee was the producing force behind ruiner, and is already packing his bags for another tour which starts sometime next week. The pair have just come back from touring earlier this year, and they have both been busy during their break to say the least; jay vee working with other close affiliates such as shinigami, supachefm, and now guccihighwaters.
From producing melodious beats under the name notmorgn to pouring his heart out through intensely emotional lyricism, there is no denying the steady rise of New York’s own guccihighwaters. Since the release of his nineteen EP, guccihighwaters has been consistently putting out content every month, and has recently teamed up with producer jay vee. The two artists worked alongside talented videographer Fox Beach to release gucci’s first music video for the single “rewind“, inducing nostalgic visuals and wistful lyrics all of which are backed by jay vee’s beautifully sinister sound.
The music video accurately depicts exactly what these artists embody; starting with a more lively sounding intro and fun skate videos, and transitioning to a melancholic beat to match the atmosphere of the abandoned building in which they have found themselves. gucci’s soft tone and evocative lyrics reflect his feelings toward a lover while jay vee’s eerie production plays in the background. Fox Beach’s masterful use of vintage on the video ties into the hauntingly reminiscent tone of the song as a whole. As guccihighwaters closes the song with the words “I know I’m losing you and that’s life, but I can’t go without you till the other side,” the video cuts to clips of him and jay vee skating as the song and video fade to an end. As the video finishes, it leaves the viewer with a lot to think about, including the ever-present question: what is next for these artists? Watch jay vee and guccihighwaters’s “rewind” on asatari down below.
