If you haven’t heard of sadeyes yet, you will soon. This obscure, young artist has continuously been releasing a steady stream of music within the last month that have captured our attention. Following the announcement of his first full-length album street lights, sadeyes has been engrossed in work; releasing merchandise and four new songs, including a single from his upcoming album and a collaboration with icy tears.
His latest release, “cortisol,” combines reaper & martensite’s beautiful guitar work with enticing lyrics. The simplicity of the beat allows listeners to be captivated by the chilling reality of the song; the reality of the struggles that he as well as others deal with on a daily basis. At the root of this track is somberness, but as he reveals that “everything might be alright,” it is evident that there is a hopeful undertone. After the chorus is repeated twice, all that remains is the faint playing of a guitar as the song reaches a bittersweet ending.
The combination of alluring acoustics and introspective lyrics is to be expected on sadeyes’ upcoming album, and leaves us eager to see more of this young talent’s potential. Listen to “cortisol” by sadeyes and produced by reaper & martensite below.
