Olivia’s new single“Fast Fast” takes sonic inspiration from fast-paced thrash melodies with a clean trip-hop twist, while the vocals find roots in early 2000’s pop-punk and hardcore. Gaining traction in the underground Soundcloud community, the Brooklyn band strikes a balance between keen pop sensibilities, polished production, and a fiery punk attitude.
The breaking directed video for “Fast Fast” encapsulates just that — a dialed performance mixed with a hyper-detailed horror show. The track offers a heart racing anthem about toxicity in self care and relationships with others. Singing, “What if I was six feet down? / She turned around and asked me: ‘how about now?” we see Little Shadows roaming the woods as macabre images flash on the screen. The hypnotic synth runs and pounding drums complement the sharp-tongued hook about losing sight of what’s best when a temporary solution in the form of another person takes shape.
Olivia’s debut album Poster Boy is slated for early September release. Until then, check out the video for “Fast Fast” down below.
