Softheart has just released a music video for “i’m not the one you love” off of his sophomore album well kept and easily broken, and the visuals are stunning. Teaming up with fellow creator, guccihighwaters, softheart brings earthy displays and soothing vocals that enrapture the viewer completely.
The video starts with clips of the two walking through a house, then, shortly after, cuts to various scenes of them in a woodland area that appears to be surrounding the home they were in. As softheart leads the song with an immense amount of energy, multitudes of visuals are layered over each other, providing an abstract notion that is magnetic. His verse takes us through the memory of a heartbreak and the emotions he’s going through as a result.
she had me// cut me off so bad// leave me messed up in my head// only miss us when we’re bad
Continuing to the bridge, softheart construes the feelings that his mentality tends to bring him; “i’m depressed and always stoned, i’m always stressed i can’t control it; uninterested always alone.” Following the bridge is a saturnine verse from guccihighwaters which contrasts the spry voice of softheart. The brief verse brings up the flood of dolefulness that memories tend to cause, yet the tone is changed when the chorus is sung. With a contrite, yet confident nature, the words “oh yeah i’m sorry, i’m not the one you love. i’d be the one to fuck you then ignore you for a month,” flow from guccihighwaters.
Softheart provides a short verse yet again, and the chorus is repeated by both artists this time before concluding the song. As both the song and the video come to an end, all that is seen is the duo singing in an open field before panning to a very gloomy sky.
Whether it’s together or separate, more is expected to come from these young talents. For now, check out “i’m not the one you love” below.
