cøzybøy Wears his Heart on His Sleeve with “A Bedroom Story”

Cøzybøy is relatively new to the scene, but he is already making a name for himself as a sweet and honest vocalist with an R&B twist. With three full albums and a handful of singles this year alone, cøzybøy’s latest project, a bedroom story is a candid telling of the trial and errors of connection, lust, and love. The entire album is built on the notion, “if walls could talk.” a bedroom story is intimate and soulful, all while maintaining a certain naïve and hopeful energy. With tracks like “I never thought you’d break up with me”, cøzybøy doesn’t sugar coat his experiences;

“Girl can you tell me what you’re thinking of/ I been diagnosed, and you be all I think about/ typing on my phone/ paragraphs to level out/ all my fucking thoughts, baby lemme take you down”

cøzybøy utilizes the classic voicemail sample in a fresh way, using them as a bridge between each track throughout a bedroom story The voicemails tell their own story within the larger narrative of the project: a plea from a past or current lover for more emotional honesty, a cry to be needed and feel wanted within the seemingly cynical arena of love. Sometimes we are left with just automated voicemail message, or a dial tone between songs in a fruitless attempt to reach the one we’re missing.

a bedroom story balances on the edge of erotic and sweet, romantic and vengeful. cøzybøy’s character and his mindset is dissected in this project between the points of view of the women in his life, and cøzybøy’s own confessions. cøzybøy absolutely delivers on his display of vulnerability to show his listeners the different faces of struggle on the spectrum of obsession and apathy. From the melancholic tones present in “sometimes I wish we never fell in love” to heavier hitting flows present in “trying to fill the void”, a bedroom story has a bit of something for everyone. The project is extremely well thought out which can be seen in it’s seamless cohesiveness. Be a fly on the wall of cøzybøy’s bedroom, check out his latest project below:
