San Lorenzo Writes a Somber Love Letter with “Feeling / All of me Needs You”

Nineteen-year-old, San Antonio based artist, san Lorenzo is not new to the music scene. Lorenzo has been releasing his lo-fi infused tracks for about four years now. However, this past year he’s been picking up the pace and pushing his creative boundaries, displaying great promise and potential. Regardless of his experimentation, san Lorenzo’s music can be recognized by a clean, distinct flow, overlapped with a dreamy, ambient instrumental. San Lorenzo’s newest track, “Feeling/ All of me needs you” is the most vulnerable we’ve seen him yet.

The track is beautifully simple and stripped. It features just san Lorenzo and his piano; “This song is purely me being creative and having fun making music. I just really wanted to create an authentic underground gem. A beautiful suspended moment in time.” “Feeling/ all of me needs you” is quiet and understated, and repeats the same lines throughout:

“You don’t understand what I feel when I see you/ Half of me hates you/ All of me needs you”

The track reads as a somber love letter. The lyrics are straightforward, yet loaded with emotional complexity; “The words I say in it are the only words I needed to say; the simplicity of the song conveys more than I ever could.” “Feeling/ All of me needs you” is a breath of fresh air in that it is just a man pouring his heart out onto the piano keys. In an era where many artists are aiming for perfection and there is a tendency for tracks to be overproduced in a way — artistic impulses are thought-out and processed many times over before the track is shared with the world. There is something special about an artist returning to bare musical bones, if only for a moment. The energy present in “Feeling/ all of me needs you” is that of spontaneous authenticity. While we’re waiting to see where san Lorenzo will venture to next, check out “Feeling/ All of me needs you” below.
