Lil Hawk Boy needs more “affection.”

Many artists have seemingly tried to push out of the underground and into the ‘mainstream scene’ today with catchy hooks, enchanting beats and incredible vocals. However, it is rare that an artist can seamlessly transition from underground flows to stardom so easily. Auspicious artist Lil Hawk Boy is one of the few musical talents in the underground that has the utmost potential in seeing his name glittered throughout the stars. With “affection.“, Lil Hawk Boy demonstrates his ability to meander on into a more prevailing R&B setting while preserving his already well established alternative artistry.

Produced by Yusei, “affection.” is a gloomy mesh of keys and rattling hi-hats. The minimalistic production allows Lil Hawk Boy to shine throughout the track as he drifts across a pummeling kick drum and sub combination.

As his melodies sound as crisp and reverberated as ever, Lil Hawk Boy lyrically dedicates the track “affection.” to a past lover who has found someone new.

He don’t make you happy // You had your chance with me // But you never quite had me

Lil Hawk Boy details how his past relationship was convoluted and filled with problems, something he now scoffs at when thinking about as he “got someone better”. Hawk Boy concludes that his ineffectual, former partner has failed to realize what she has ultimately missed out on by moving on so easily.

While Lil Hawk Boy edges closer and closer to his eventual domination of the top charts with songs like “affection.”, he still thoroughly enjoys dabbling in experimental music seen on recent tracks like “substance” and still highly performs in the ’emosphere’ as heard throughout the debut DXD team tape: DXD SEASON 1. Although he is only peaking through the beginning phases of his career, Lil Hawk Boy has already amassed thousands of plays and solidified himself as one of the torch carriers of true virtuosity within the underground.
