From the plethora of wondrous voices across the underground, it is a rarity to stumble upon someone with such a soothing vocal ability left relatively undiscovered. Yet, 23-year-old Xxajii has stayed an unknown secret to the dismay of the masses. While the Dallas native released his debut album late last year, Xxajii has demonstrated that he has the artistry and talent to emerge from the shadows as a household name. With his newest song “timing“, Xxajii puts forward his diverse array of abilities through hopeful melodies and creative strong structures.
Xxajii writes throughout the track about how specific timing in ones life dictates where ones future leads with no control. “I felt that timing in my overall life has been either something that propels me or hinders me from doing certain things, or (even) making the best of certain relationships,” Xxajii explains. “Just ‘timing’ in ones life can have such a huge impact on where your life goes, or doesn’t go.”
While his lyrical abilities highlight his convivial voice, both meshed together demonstrates an impeccable ability that Xxajii has as an artist.
All the timing is suddenly obliterated // Why did you accommodate a bleeding heart? // If i go back i would just erase my self again and there would be no end, an end to what comes after
Staying away from the current conventional guitar based trap beat, Xxajii decided it was a better idea to start from scratch with only his acoustic guitar. Recently releasing an acoustic cover of the Saosin track “Voices“, it was only right for Xxajii to make his first original acoustic debut shortly thereafter. Xxajii says he was stuck between a multitude of instrumentals before deciding to write “timing”. “I had been stuck going through beats and tracks I had been writing to and I just hit a brick wall with lyrics, so I picked up my acoustic,” he details. “Theres just something about stripping things down to just a voice and a guitar that resonates with a lot of people. I think its the vulnerability of the artist themselves in their raw form (and) I just love it.
From Xxajiis own reassurance, he states that he will continue to release “a mix of experimental/crossover genres”. “I don’t expect myself to stick to one style, I’m gonna make what sounds the best and can allow me to be as creative as possible.” As Xxajii expects to further his career through experimentation, his plan has little to no faults due to the amount sheer talent and work ethic standing behind him in his past tracks. From “timing” to the rest of his creatively flowing catalog of work, Xxajii is destined for a pristine career.
