2018 was a big year for rapper HateSonny as he burst out onto the Chicago underground scene, due to a lethal combination of his incredible work ethic and his musical talent. Video after video dropped, making him impossible to ignore. The music that he was creating made him impossible to hate. This year proves no different, with HateSonny’s music video “THIRTEEN” showing refinement in his sound and artistic vision.
HateSonny, alongside director robertsjj, created an intense, grueling, gangster tale in a matter of just two minutes. Dressed up in a full suit while smoking a cigarette, HateSonny seems like a character straight out of Goodfellas as he walks through the city with indescribable finesse and style. The intensity is matched by his crew, who walk behind him throughout the video not once showing any emotion.
His flair continues into the track itself with confident lines such as “Who is he? I’m that boy she came to see” which only adds to the gritty, dark production in the back. The visuals for “THIRTEEN” provide an amazing gangster tale of violence and revenge which only enhance’s the hard hitting track produced by NOELZ V. From the moment he emerges from a bodybag to when he leaves his enemies incapacitated, “THIRTEEN” is a beautiful yet slightly unnerving project which showcase HateSonny’s talent firsthand.
