Our Favorite Boy Band Has Returned With “BFZ2”

Lil Lotus, smrtdeath, and Lil Aaron come together once again as the purple, red, and green members of your favorite emo boy band, Boyfriendz. With four new songs to accompany your Valentine’s Day 2019, the tracks are the first songs we’ve heard from the trio since their debut project released in December of 2017.

All three artists have made some considerable accomplishments since the group first formed, and while bfz is consistently takes a more light-hearted approach to music than the artists do individually, they still manage to pull in listeners from all three fan bases. The producers on this project aren’t mentioned in any of the credits, but we do know that Dylan Brady touched at least 2 of the 4 total tracks, and that Brenton Duvall supported Brady in producing the last song, “Fucked Up Kid.”

One of the most lovable parts of this project is how well the trio divided the content. Each song has a hook by one of the Boyfriendz with verses provided by the remaining two. They each have such distinct vocal styles that being able to hear each of them own one or more of the tracks showcased the actual amount of talent present in this group. If Lil Aaron is your favorite boyfriend, the first track is for you. His clean sound compliments a crisp guitar beat to create one of the brighter tracks of the project, “Be Around.”

A quick fan favorite was the second song, “IDRGAF” (I Don’t Really Give A Fuck). Stylistically and nominally mirroring “IDCIUDHMB” from the original Boyfriendz album, the track is as high energy and sleazy as your favorite early 2010s radio hit without losing any of the production integrity you can expect of anything out of Hazheart records.

The third song, “Far Away” is lead by red-haired beauty smrtdeath who’s distinct sound sets it apart from the rest of the project as uniquely his. The last song, again lead by Lil Lotus, is reminiscent of some of his earlier work in his ability to bring forward ingenuous emotion without sounding careless.

Don’t make the mistake of only streaming BFZ2 on SoundCloud, as Spotify listeners have a special treat in the inclusion of an outro track with commentary by all three Boyfriendz. Besides expressing love to fans and promising more music to come, take a listen to the 5th bfz track if you want a quick laugh and a familiar name for anyone keeping tabs on these artists’ social media.
