Saphir Spills Her Conflicted Feelings in New Video for “Prayer”

Emerging with a beautifully drafted single and video, Saphir is found in the middle of the emotionally driven track “Prayer.” Produced by Splashgvng, this song feels like looking into a heart from the outside; lyrics that perhaps resonate with listeners, but hold a deeper, more personal meaning to Saphir herself. Kind enough to give further introspection, Underground Underdogs had the chance to ask Saphir a few questions about her latest release.

When delving into this particular song, one cannot help but feel as though they are peering into a very intimate part of Saphir’s thoughts; “Well, the inspiration sort of comes from the tug of war, when you want to keep someone in your life, but you continue to have doubts whether they’re meant to stay or not,” she explained. “Your vulnerable side doesn’t want to be hurt again, but you’re also willing to take the risk of continuing because you believe it’s right.” Written 9 months ago, Saphir reveals that she’s grown a lot since that time in her life, and has learned a lot from herself. She has since began to decipher people’s true intentions by listening to what she feels in her heart.

Anyone who has found themselves questioning a person’s role in their life can attest that it’s difficult to let go, especially when one is unsure of the results to come. Saphir discloses how she found certainty amidst confusion; “I’ve had so much patience and wasted a lot of time with others who only wanted to gain from me in a selfish way. Listening to a lot of witch-house and meditation music gave me a lot of clarity to observe situations fully.”

The visuals partnered with this track feature an array of floating bloom effects, mirroring the mental fog that can come with the weighty, complicated decisions being illustrated. Pastel pink and yellow hues flood the frame, trailing alongside Saphir’s vocal crescendos. Simple set pieces, a dirt backroad and swing set, represent the tender and solitary places Saphir occupies within this song. The direction provided by RamosVISUALS is a wonderful accompaniment to an already sonically pleasing work.

As of now, Saphir has no new large-scale projects in the making, but does plan to release content every week. Whether it be a single, a video, or a collaboration, something is coming. For now, fans are spoiled with a video for “Prayer.” Listen and watch below.
