OmenXIII has been releasing a large amount of content for an extensive time now, to great success. His newest track “Redstar” is now out, featuring a grisly video directed by Blanco Pages.
The visuals open with flashes of unnerving imagery, from writing littered up a wall to an ominous “Dead End” sign, leaving one with the dreaded feeling that something is wrong. The entire video is drenched in a crimson, blood-soaked red tint. This macabre effect, added by graphic designer Tunnel Rat, is reminiscent to scenes from classic horror movie “The Shining,” making the hairs on one’s arms stand tall.
The majority of the video appears to take place in the living room of somebodies’ house, packed to the brim with contentious fans, hurling their bodies against each other to the crushing instrumental. The DIY atmosphere set by the house show and filming style accentuate a raw and authentic taste found in “Redstar.” Produced by Still, the instrumental opens with a shrill, screeching melody which almost sounds like a scream. Combined with fluttering percussion and a punchy 808, the track kicks in with harsh vigor, laying out the perfect bed for Omen.
The vocals absolutely batter the listener, dominating with ruthless delivery. “They want a taste but this shit ain’t just average,” Omen boasts, detailing his dexterity as an artist. His brisk flow maneuvers through the beat with ease, delivering line after line without pause. The track is encapsulated with the shrieking repetition of the song’s title.
