Watch safe sin’s Poignant Music Video for “TRUST”

Having just released his heart-wrenching EP PAINFUL, safe sin illustrates a toxic and cynical relationship in his new music video for “TRUST” directed by Jack Rottier. With songs like “u suck” and “Safe Without You,” safe sin seems to bask in the ambiance of his despair and uses it to his benefit to encapsulate it in his art, and his most recent music video only furthers that message.

Produced by dontsleep, “TRUST” is comprised with heavy leitmotifs of loneliness, toxicity and numbness, and on the other side of the spectrum, recklessness. “I’m toxic can’t you tell? I think I’ve got bad blood, dreams and nightmares they’re put into motion now, pop these pills and don’t let emotion out.” A wave of emotion hits and he can only face it by numbing it down to a state of oblivion.

The video starts off melancholic, with shots showcasing things like clocks, silverware, and dolls. As the video goes on, safe sin transitions from sleeping, to having his head in his hands in frustration, sitting on the floor, on couch accompanied by two girls, and lastly to outside of the house in a murky corner smoking a cigarette alone.

These scenes of safe sin in different locations, along with the poignant lyrics and production, solidifies his variant emotions; despair, frustration, recklessness and loneliness. safe sin feels all of these collectively while confounded in this relationship he describes. Yet as safe sin closes the video, he’s on the couch, all by himself.
