Witness PPG Casper and Steven Moses Converge on “Sick In The Head”

In their music video for “Sick In The Head,” PPG Casper and Steven Moses feed off of one other’s emotionally-charged vocals and drug fueled-lyrics.

Although “Sick In The Head” is the first time PPG Casper and Steven Moses have come together in a collaborative effort, each have respectively been making waves on their own. Dubbed as “the underground’s overnight star,” Steven Moses’s breakout hit song “Love Me” was followed by his 2018 debut album Love Me // Leave Me. PPG Casper had an equally productive year, with the release of various singles and his EP youwouldntbelievemept.2.

“Sick In The Head” has a heavy bass-synth introduce the track, which dissipates as a lively guitar riff comes in underneath Casper’s somber and pained vocals. Directed by Mason Luckiewicz, the video works to highlight how much duress the two vocalists undergo.

The opening shot finds Casper dumping a bottle of pills on a table and taking a few haphazardly, demonstrating the lifeline that he has found for himself. They’re seemingly trapped in depression the drugs need to sustain them, “I been eating percocets like I been eating food.” Yet the unfulfilled rock stars begin to harmonize over lyrics lamenting on how far they’ve come, “So many fucking racks that I don’t know what to do with them.”

Moses can be seen strumming an electric guitar, the original instrumentation providing a much-needed reprieve from the all-too-common trend of utilizing guitar samples in hip-hop production. Casper himself sings into a live microphone, aimlessly dragging a dimly lit cigarette. As the video comes to a close, blood is seen coming off of Steven’s tongue, visualizing the real pain that went into making the record.

PPGCasper and Steven Moses have effectively demonstrated their vocal range and piercing lyrics. By doing so, the duo of emotionally deprived rock stars leave us eager for more collaborations between them.
