Continuing to cultivate a die-hard fanbase around his DEATHPROOF imprint, the enigmatic North Carolina artist releases a chaotic track to mark his 20th birthday
If Nascar Aloe were to walk down down Kings Road in 1977, he would fit right in amongst London’s punk epicenter. Standing at a menacing height that is only elongated further with his jagged liberty spikes, the North Carolinian rapper calls himself the new Sid Vicious. Disheveled appearances and spiky hair aside, Nascar can back up this bold claim with his chaotically violent live performances and his equally lawless tracks.
Releasing “American Wasteland” to coincide with his 20th birthday, the self-produced song starts off with a melody that sounds as if it was wrangled to fit into the beat. Immediately afterward the instrumental ushers in rhythmically distorted bass drums that sets the bounce for the production. Eagerly screaming the namesake of the song, Nascar vocalizes his ideal paradise; an anarchic wasteland with no order or infrastructure.
AMERICAN WASTELAND, NO RULES IN THIS PLACE, FUCK THE LAW AND STATE
Polluting the listeners’ ears with his rebellious music it’s indisputable that Nascar has no interest in peace and order. On the contrary, he seems to strive for an apocalyptic world with no authority to replace modern day society. Although living in an “American Wasteland” seems to only be a fantasy, imagine your version of Nascar’s punk-filled world in the meantime by listening to the track below.
