nothing, nowhere. And Travis Barker Team Up For “destruction”

In his newest track and visuals, Joe Mulherin passionately pairs his diverse talents with Barker’s stylish rhythm.

Shadowy soloist nothing, nowhere. has been keeping busy since the release of his 2018 full-length album Ruiner, playing extensive international tours and revisioning his most monumental tracks through his One Take YouTube series. The past few weeks, however, have been quiet, giving fans hope that this was the calm before a long-awaited storm. Posting occasional studio photos without much context, the man behind the nothing, nowhere. universe, Joe Mulherin, has been teasing a new drop, and ultimately, the next installment in the evolution of his sound. Today, anticipation eases into excitement with the video for “destruction” alongside the announcement of Bloodlust, a collaborative EP with Travis Barker.

Motorcycle rides underneath apocalyptic skies accompany the cool rhythm of soft guitar and subtle ad-libs. With glimpses of Mulherin’s secretive appearance in mirror reflections and behind helmets, his talents as both an experimental instrumentalist and rapper are showcased as “destruction” leaves room for equal parts. The second half of the track grows explosive as Barker, who appears behind his drum kit with flame-colored smoke, joins in full force and Mulherin introduces slamming rhythm guitar. “destruction” is an example of how the accessibility provided in Mulherin’s lyrics is extending into the catchiness of his musical composition, but he has hardly forgotten his roots in his frequently-cited basement. While he may have upgraded from a skateboard to a motorcycle, nothing, nowhere.’s ethos of a flame unceremoniously extinguished remains intact.
