Hook’s unique sound, a culmination of her West Coast-background mixed with distinct delivery, is continuing to turn heads in the underground scene. After dropping her collaborative project BULLY in June with well-versed producer Nedarb, the 20-year-old rapper has proven she isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. While she recently released “BLESS ME” and a chilling visual for her song “Hate Me,” she returns again, this time to “Kick Doors!”

Hook separates herself from the herd by combining her intimidating cadence with an unmistakable delivery. To start, the brash Nedarb and captaincrunch-produced instrumental brings its own menacing atmosphere to the track as catchy synths collide with upbeat percussion.  Hook matches that energy with boastful confidence, wasting no time as she states on the chorus, “Money getting big it be massive, bet that money make ‘em do a backflip, if I’m on a song then I’m taxin’.” As her name grows, so does the price she charges to bless someone’s song with an appearance. She continues onward in a tenacious tirade, poking fun at the people she used to call competition by asking them, “Damn my life is great, how your ass been?” There is an alluring intensity to all of this, as Hook’s aggressive intonation makes the listener anxiously wonder what will come next. This song is an ode to the people who doubted her, and she thoroughly expresses her distaste for them. More importantly,  Hook has taken this time to tell the world that she really is just getting started.
