Baby.com teases listeners with the release of an energetic EP ahead of her upcoming mixtape, baby time!
While baby.com’s highly-anticipated debut project baby time! is on its way later this year, the Delaware native is already packing punches. Teasing fans in the meantime with the release of her three-track tape it’s (almost) baby time! Baby’s light-hearted attitude and infectious style continue to enchant listeners. Serving as a breath of fresh air, Baby provides tantalizing and playful takes amidst the current wave of melancholic rappers.
Sexual, feminine, and mischievous, there’s something empowering about listening to Baby. The EP’s middle track, “this some shit that meg the stallion shake her ass too,” embodies these traits in typical baby fashion. Behind lively production courtesy of Dolphin Talk and Stephen Niday, Baby owns her sexuality pridefully with “Grab that n**** off the bar // break his back boo,” and reinforces her independence in brazen lyrics like “I love to watch you leave and I love to watch you go // so pack that shit up baby I’m sleeping on my own.” Aspects of the track may be tongue in cheek, but the release is a refreshing addition to a heavily-male dominated scene. By simply doing her own thing, Baby’s confidence seeps into her sound, giving it its intoxicating quality.
With roots in DJing, Baby knows how to get her fans moving. Regardless of where her listeners are, it is difficult to resist becoming immersed in the tape’s rhythm. “Throw it,” which serves as the EP’s opener, offers a slower tempo as the mood builds. Baby effortlessly flexes behind fitting instrumentals, “You ain’t catching up to me lil bitch you should know that // Baby on the beat I go black just like Kodak.” She is ahead of the game, which her self-assured vocals emphasize. Iconic ad-libs, staccato phrases, and stylistic touches are scattered throughout the project — this dynamic production intertwining seamlessly with her bold lyricism to deliver a contagious and lively atmosphere.
Baby is paving her own direction with her distinctive style and flair. With new visuals for single “Poppin’ Bitch” on the way, it won’t be long before Baby’s playfulness is catapulted into the mainstream wave of leading ladies.
