Curtis Waters Drops The Sunny Visual For His Sweet Pop-Trap Ballad “Freckles”

The North Carolina-based artist conveys the rose-colored glasses of love through his free-spirited mix.

Curtis Waters has never shied away from wearing his heart on his sleeve. Whether it be rapping about popping pills on his Prom Night cut “Bubblegum Kisses,” or singing sweetly about heartbreak on “The Feelings Tend To Stay The Same,” it’s clear the North Carolina-based artist is most comfortable sharing his truth in a way that captivates ears and hearts. The mentality of emotional and sonic vulnerability has led to another impossibly catchy melancholic pop anthem, “Freckles”. Laid-back guitar harmonies and punchy trap drums (both produced by Curtis himself) complement the artists’ breezy flow and soft-spoken delivery, creating a sweet-sounding mix that whisks listeners away to thoughts of past loves.

The nostalgic visuals that accompany the track only serve to highlight its sun-soaked trap-pop sound. Director Ryan Tempke cuts between shots of Waters dancing in a field with scenes of engaging in more relatable pleasures; whether he be playing with his cat or riding his bike, the free-spirited feelings of developing a crush define the three-minute love song.
