Listen to fish narc’s Mix for Underground Underdogs

The GothBoiClique producer and vocalist shares a punk-centric mix

By exploring the different nuances that rock music allows and expanding from the emo template to hip-hop and beyond, producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist fish narc has helped popularize the application of live guitar playing onto the traditional trap-beat format. Born and bred in Seattle’s DIY punk scene, fish narc had no intentions of creating hip-hop — or at least until Lil Tracy discovered loops on his laptop and sang over them. This avant-garde approach to rap drew fish narc to the genre, leading him to his join GothBoiClique at its inception in 2015.

Since then, fish narc has produced quintessential tracks for Lil Peep, Lil Tracy, Wicca Phase, and countless others. More recently, fish narc has been releasing his own vocals ahead of his full length project Wildfire, demonstrating his ability as a guitarist, producer, and vocalist with the album’s lead single of the same name, “WiLDFiRE.”

Today, fish narc shares his Mutt Mix for UU, featuring an eclectic assortment of artists ranging from L.A.’s staple punk bands all the way to the IE’s fledgling rappers. In an e-mail, fish narc explains the inspiration behind his mix, “I miss California all the time. The oldest song on this mix is from 1979 and the newest came out a few weeks ago; some of this inspired ‘WiLDFiRE,’ other songs are just sick and I love them.” Listen below:
