The duo go back and forth over bleachbaby’s production
Continuing his string of singles since his October 2019 album Die For You, Drippin So Pretty shares his second new track in two weeks — “scream your name” featuring Lil Lotus. Matched by Bleachbaby‘s incessant, rhythmic guitar, Drip’s lyrics are vulnerable, reckless, and impatient as he pleads, “I don’t wanna feel this / I just wanna kill this.” The novel aspect of the release is his vocal style: taking a cue from Lil Lotus, Drip opts for a more melodic voice. Lotus’ verse features the recent Epitaph signee’s characteristic themes of home, loneliness, and dependence. Drip’s emphasizes his solitude, a common trope of his own, even to the track’s conclusion: “No one else feels my pain / no, my friend, we’re not the same.” In the titular moment, he describes an attempt to break his loneliness — a yearning we can all relate to in these times of social distance.
