The guitar-heavyweight’s Mutt Mix taps into his extensive catalogue and current favorites
The sixth edition of UU’s Mutt Mix series comes courtesy of Los Angeles artist thislandis. Best known for his long-term collaborative work with UU favorite Drippin So Pretty, he’s further established himself on beats for the likes of ColdHart, Convolk, and ericdoa. As a prolific guitarist, he’s also contributed energetic riffs to names like d0llywood1 and midwxst, securing a list of standout contributions across genres and styles.
On what inspired the choices in his Mutt Mix, thislandis explains, “I wanted to showcase a bunch of my favorite songs I’ve been listening to repeatedly for the past year and a few things I was involved in making as well. Also wanted to mix a bunch of guitar based songs with some synth based songs because I think they sound really sick next to each other.”
