Rawska Speaks on his Impressive Debut Album “Emergency”

Making our headlines today with his debut album Emergency, Rawska has captured the attention of many with his musically diverse project. The album takes listeners through 9 songs, each noticeably different than the last, which showcase the skill that the young vocalist possesses. With this being his first album, we found it important to learn more about the album process as well as what lies ahead in the future. Thankfully, Rawska was friendly enough to answer a few questions we had about Emergency.

One of the most important elements of an album is its title, especially if it has a specific meaning to the artist. Rawska reveals that the significance behind the album’s title is in fact, personal. “I started the album in New York, I had to leave before finishing the project due to to a medical emergency,” he explains. Combining elements of R&B and hip-hop, as well as alternative, it is easy for listeners to be drawn in by how well-executed each track is. “I recorded the whole thing with Prettyheartbreak. He’s one of my favorite people to record with because we have such good chemistry,” he says about the album’s engineer and co-producer. “Couldn’t have made such a pristine project without him. ”

With the long list of producers such as fish narc, prettyheartbreak, ghostrage, callari, eqmadeit, and fish, it is clear that a lot of time and dedication went into the making of this album. Rawska explains, “I found Payday on YouTube n reached out and we went back and forth, and he eventually made beats to certain vibes I requested. Callari made a beat in front of me at Tracy’s house in NYC. fish narc made the “Emergency” beat one night at Brennan’s. Prettyheartbreak made the “Light Hearted” beat right in front of me. Ghostrage and fish emailed me some heat. It all just happened organically.” He continued on to explain that listening to the final mixes was the best part of the entire process.

Rawska says that opening track “Green Day” was his favorite to record, since he had just came back to LA from New York. The rhythmic track comes almost as a surprise to listeners as it is noticeably different from title track “Emergency,” which was released almost a month prior to the album. This, he informs, was intentional; “I wanted to show my versatility.” And that is exactly what he did. Taking a different approach on fourth track “My Boo”, Rawska yields a softer, more melodious style of vocals while an up-beat production and various ad-libs act as support.

Paired with such an array of songs, “Emergency” stands out from the rest, as it presents a slower, more gloomy tone and holds the only features on the entire project. Rawska, of course, had reasonable explanation:

I wanted to focus on my solo presence

The amount of time and attention to detail that went into the production of this impressive debut album does not go unnoticed, and leaves listeners with anticipation for the future. Although there is not a set release date, Rawska says that his next project is going to be a collaborative album with Coldhart. There is no doubt that we will be hearing from him soon.
