With multiple projects debuted in the first two months of 2018, Fantasy Camp is setting himself up for an exceptional year. Today the Pennsylvania native premieres the music video for his self produced track “Stay.”
Earlier in January, Fantasy Camp made our pages alongside Lil Zubin with their emotionally charged EP Another Heart 2 Break. However, Fantasy Camp most recently released his tape One For Sorrow, his first full length project. Featuring vocals by Lil Zubin, Wicca Phase Springs Eternal, and the duo Coward, the project was almost exclusively produced by Fantasy Camp himself, with only two tracks co-produced with Foxwedding and Josh Stoll.
“Stay,” the final track on One For Sorrow, is a beautiful rendition of Fantasy Camp’s personal struggles with creative endeavors and personal relationships. He explains that “at some point, one is going to require more time and effort than the other and a choice has to be made. This song is me battling with myself and trying to find an equilibrium.” The powerful, electronic production and hard hitting bells on the track are just as beautiful as Fantasy Camp’s harmonies as he sings:
“I was thinking about a song or some words that I could say
The perfect harmony or charm that could make you want to stay
You’re the reason I’m in water almost seven times a day
I’m not trying to make it hard for you, just wanted you to stay”
The visuals for “Stay” stand out nearly as much as Fantasy Camp’s skillful lyricism, for the dream like song enhanced by slowed down ballet scenes. With a ballerina gracefully twirling in between shots of the young artist, the video was shot, directed, and edited by Sam O’Connell. Already releasing vivid visuals and two masterful tapes in 2018, Fantasy Camp shows no signs of slowing down. Watch the cinematic tour de force down below.
