things that quicken the heart by familypet

It’s only been a short year since familypet made their initial debut, releasing a series of diverse singles, developing a loyal fan base, and proving they have what it takes to be the next big thing. Since the hint of an upcoming album during our familypet interview we’ve been dying to get our hands on it.

After months of anticipation, things that quicken the heart has made it’s official release, a 6 track album beautifully produced and mastered featuring names 93FEETOFSMOKE, shinigami, and badXchannels.

It’s clear when listening to things that quicken the heart that many of the songs draw reference from music we’re already familiar with. In “beautiful ghosts” we find sounds from Lydia, “doctor, doctor” being a direct reference to Robert Palmer’s “Bad Case of Loving You” and “counting on you” blending sounds from nevershoutnever and Tigers Jaw. Arguably the most unique song on the album however has to be “Chemical Veins” featuring 93FEETOFSMOKE. It draws a much more trap influenced beat, something we haven’t seen familypet do yet. The blend of easy listening and emotionally hard hitting songs is refreshing, proving that familypet isn’t afraid to break the barriers of their previous music and give their fans something new to listen too.

For what it’s worth I’d give everything on this earth to make you proud of me

From start to finish things that quicken the heart draws on feelings of nostalgia. Childhood memories, past heartbreaks, and even music I myself grew up listening to. Each song draws from a unique style and inspiration, while still maintaining that core familypet sound and making it a very full and well thought out album.

With the album release, our only question left for familypet is when’s the tour coming and what’s next for the exciting duo? Check out the complete project down below.
